RUSSIA SELLS OIL ABOVE PRICE CAP

Russia has recently been accused of selling oil above the price cap that was implemented by the OPEC+ alliance to stabilize the global oil market. The price cap was put in place to ensure that there is a balance between the supply and demand of oil and to prevent any volatility that may arise from fluctuations in oil prices.

However, reports now suggest that Russia has been selling oil above this agreed-upon price ceiling. This has led to concerns that, if unchecked, this behavior from Russia could undermine the stability of the global oil market. The Russian government has denied any wrongdoing and has stated that its oil sales are in line with the agreed-upon market conditions. Nevertheless, this development has caused concern among other OPEC+ members and the international community at large. Given that Russia is one of the world's largest oil producers, any action that it takes can have a significant impact on the global oil market. The ongoing allegations raise questions about Russia's commitment to the price stabilization efforts and the sustainability of the broader OPEC+ alliance. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop and what kind of consequences it will have on the global oil market. One thing is certain, though - this development reinforces the importance of adherence to the agreed-upon market conditions by all members of the OPEC+ alliance.

Ethiopia and Nigeria swap $100 million dollars

The central banks of Ethiopia and Nigeria have swapped USD 100 million in blocked funds as both countries struggle with severe shortages of hard currency.

The currency deal involves swapping revenues of Ethiopian Airlines from Nigeria and earnings of Dangote Cement in Ethiopia, as the two companies struggled to repatriate profits amid forex shortages in both countries.

The swap arrangement enables Ethiopia to access funds blocked in Nigerian banks, while Nigeria gains access to money held up in Ethiopia.

OceanGate suspends all exploration and commercial operations after deadly Titan sub implosion

The company made the announcement Thursday, July 6 in a banner on its website. No further details were provided.

The Coast Guard's Marine Board of Investigation, along with authorities from Canada, France and the United Kingdom, are looking into what caused the deadly implosion. Investigators will look into possible "misconduct, incompetence, negligence, unskillfulness or willful violation of law" by OceanGate, the company that operated the Titan, or by the Coast Guard itself, the service branch previously said.

The deadly implosion brought new scrutiny to OceanGate and Rush. In a resurfaced clip from 2021, Rush told vlogger Alan Estrada that he'd "broken some rules" to make trips to the Titanic possible for his company.

Competition is fine but cheating is not.

SIGN NOW OR LEAVE

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé must sign a new contract if he wants to stay at the club as the French champions will not let him leave for free next year, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said on Wednesday.

Mbappé sent a letter to PSG last month stating that he had no intention of extending his contract, which expires in 2024.

But he later clarified that he had not asked the French club to allow him to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have in the past tried and failed to land the World Cup-winning forward.

PSG face the dilemma of allowing Mbappé to run down the final year of his contract and being unable to recoup any of the €180 million ($195.7m) they spent in 2017 to sign him from AS Monaco.

"My position is very clear. I don't want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract," Al-Khelaifi told reporters after unveiling Luis Enrique as the club's new manager.

"We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can't do that. This is a French club.

"He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it's not my fault. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, that's very clear."

Nasser Al Khelaifi: "Kylian Mbappé he has to decide next week or in two weeks. No more than this".

"If he does not want to sign a new contract, the door is OPEN".

"No one is bigger than the club, no player, not even me. It's very clear", told Le Parisien.

Mbappé has finished as Ligue 1's top scorer in the last five seasons and PSG will be eager to keep him having already lost Lionel Messi on a free transfer.

Messi, a seven-times Ballon d'Or winner, opted not to renew his contract for a move to Inter Miami.

Mbappé also said French President Emmanuel Macron had no influence on his career choices after the leader said he would push for the forward to stay in the country's capital.
